Unusual engraving project fulfilled to commemorate Trump’s and Putin’s telephone conversation after Trump’s inauguration
This, without a doubt has got to be the strangest engraving related story we have come across. It is one where engraving’s role in cosmetic dentistry meets a bizarre customer request. A while back in the Daily Express, we learned of a patient who went to a dentist in Sochi, Russia for porcelain crowns and veneers. This is the most run-of-the-mill part of an unusual story.
When you go to a dentist for porcelain crowns and veneers, you would be looking at a fair price. This can vary in private practices depending on supply and demand. For the equivalent of over £2,000, Dentist Levchenko Lev agreed to engrave the patient’s teeth. He suggested the patient’s initials, his signature, or letters.
Instead, the patient requested that two of his crowns should have the portraits of Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump. His reason behind the offbeat request was to commemorate the telephone call between the two presidents, taken during Trump’s inauguration day.
The scale of his engraving was so complex that the dentist hired a professional artist! The painter used a fine brush on the crowns which were then glazed and baked in a dental furnace.
Whatever next? Theresa May on your molars? Sir Winston Churchill on your wisdom teeth?
